DESCRIPTION: English bracket clock with 8 day, three fusee, 8-Bell quarter chime movement in an ebonized case with gilt columns and flame finials in the style of a century earlier, c1890
CONDITION: this clock has been setting idle and will need cleaning before regular use. The little separators between the bells have deteriorated and some of the bells are touching each other. The multipiece dial is typical of English work during this time, with a silvered brass chapter ring, cast floral spandrels, and subsidiary dials in the arch for Chime-Silent and your choice of Cambridge or Whittington bell chimes. The heavy and robust movement has floral engraving on the back plate and pendulum. The pendulum tie down is absent. The case itself has all its original decorative trim intact, and with front and rear door locks and it has the old finish intact with touch up near escutcheons. The rear door has come off its hinges and will need to be rehinged. Ht 18"
